Level 2: Circuits¶
Electricity and magnetism · level 2 of 8 · rough age 7-8 (a guide for parents; anyone can start anywhere)
A circuit is a loop with no gaps. This level builds circuits with switches, tests which things let electricity through, and draws circuits with symbols the way engineers do. It ends with the circuits inside a Mars rover, from its power source to its wheels.
| Lesson | You will be able to |
|---|---|
| A complete circuit | Say whether a circuit is complete and fix one that is not |
| Switches | Explain how a switch turns a bulb on and off |
| Conductors and insulators | Test which things let electricity through |
| Circuit symbols | Draw a circuit with symbols |
| More bulbs, more batteries | Predict how bright the bulbs will be |
| A rover's circuits | Follow the electricity from a rover's power source to its wheels |
