Level 2: Sunlight you cannot see¶
Radiation and the atom · level 2 of 8 · rough age 7-8 (a guide for parents; anyone can start anywhere)
Sunlight holds more than the colours we see. Beyond red there is warm infrared, and beyond violet there is ultraviolet, which can burn your skin even on a cloudy day. This level finds that hidden light, learns how to stay safe from it, and meets the ozone layer that shields Earth. Then it goes to Mars, where there is almost no such shield.
| Lesson | You will be able to |
|---|---|
| Light you cannot see | Say what lies beyond red and beyond violet in sunlight |
| Ultraviolet light | Describe what ultraviolet light can do |
| Sunburn | Explain sunburn and how to protect yourself |
